FLUORESCENT & PROPAGATING LIGHTS / UNITS and REPLACEMENT BULBS

Ideally use fluorescent light to root cuttings in propagators, especially in hot weather.

Germinated seeds can be placed directly under any size light but keep 600/1000 watt lights at least 150 cms away for a few days until the plant has gained some strength.

Assuming your area has good headroom and is well ventilated for single fluorescent tubes place at least 3 cms above your propagator / cuttings or 10 cms when taken out the propagator.

For high output bright wing fluorescent tubes you will need to place 60 cms above your propagator, 40cms above young plants and 30 cms over established growing plants.

With 250 Watt bulbs you will need to leave at least 140 cms above your propagator, 90 cms above young plants and 60 cms over established growing plants.

400 Watt lights - Place at least 160 cms over your propagator, 120 cms above young plants and 60 cms over established growing plants.

600 Watt lights need to be placed 150 cms over potted cuttings, 120 cms over young plants and 70 cms over established growing plants.

If you are using 1000 Watt lights you will need to leave at least 160 cms space over potted cuttings, 140 cms over young plants and 90 cms over established growing plants.

Place propagator off centre below big lights.

High output lights are best used when with an extractor fan to recirculate the warmed air created by the lights.
